Takoma station could be a really nice club for Go-Go, you would think. It is a nice space and a nice club in many ways. But, there is an issue that the club is in a weird way not supportive of Go-Go being Go-Go. That is, they actively discourage advertising their events in the places that Go-Go is normally discussed and advertised; they put pressure on bands to conform to a mellow, jazzy, song-oriented, softer, style; and in general they are trying hard to avoid being a "Go-Go" venue. They say they are a "jazz" venue. All this in such a way that it cramps the artistic style and possibilities of the club for Go-Go. Presumably their intention is to avoid the violence or other issues associated with Go-Go. However, they are doing this in a ham handed way, in my opinion. It is what it is...
